Bud Martin is a True Mountain Man, He runs his business like a business, he's a straight shooter and tells it how it is. His camp is back country and remote, with back country accommodations. His bear camp was phenomenal, and he worked hard along with the guides to produce a 100% shot opportunity. Dan the cook, well he's Solid Gold. The hounds in camp were amazing animals, they were family to the outfitter and guides. Just don't try and take Ethel Home. The country is rugged inspiring and challenging. The memories were made by a guide that went the extra mile spending his life carving and shaping an experience not to be believed. We went three for 4 in camp with one having to leave early. They made sure that we had the opp to see bear and they know what they are talking about so listen learn and do as they say, you'll have the opp for a bear, but I'd have died happy even if I Had not pulled the trigger. Thanks Bud your camp is incredible. Andy

Elk rifle season 2016 - Idaho
I have hunted with Redbone Outfitting for 4 years. I was lucky to harvest an elk of a life time my first year. I continue to return every year not to try for a larger bull, but because I truly enjoy the expierance of hunting out of a real elk camp. Bud and his seasoned guides work very hard. After returning year after year, I can see the huge amount of work these guys put in to give the hunters every opportunity to have a successful hunt. With that being said, hunters have the responsibility to come to camp physically able to hunt real wild elk. It is done by hunters every year. I am in my mid 50s and it takes everything I have to get thru the week. ( it is worth every ache and pain ). I have seen and had an opportunity to harvest an elk every year. I can not ask any more from Bud and his guides. if you are looking for a real elk hunt, this is it. The camp is very comfortable. The food is great. You will be looking forward to dinner every night. In closing, please remember that your hunt is what you are willing to put into it. Good luck and enjoy.

I am a native of Montana and was lucky to draw a 620 area either-sex elk tag. I was thrilled I drew the tag and, because of being a life-long hunter and familiar with the area, wasn't too concerned that I wouldn't fill it. I was wrong...bad luck after bad luck followed me at the start of the season. My friend of 15 years, Bud Martin, called me to ask how the hunt was going. When I was finished telling him my frustration, and possible fact that I wouldn't get another chance to get out in the area, he said "I'll help you get your bull..let's find a weekend that works." I've never asked Bud to take me hunting in the past because I've never wanted to impose on his business. At his insistence, I agreed. Boy, am I glad I did! Bud and Mark took me out into the area and not once did I feel I wasn't in good hands. I wasn't picky about the size of the elk, I just didn't want my tag to go to waste. The second day, we spotted two bulls up on a side hill. Bud helped me get set up and Mark studied which bull to shoot. I used the long-range 30-338 Winchester custom made by Coffin Gunsmithing at Bud's instruction and...got my 400-class 6x7 bull at 576 yards with one shot! Yes, Bud Martin has been my friend for many years..and Mark is now my new friend. This raving review isn't just because of that. I pull from a life-time of hunting, starting with taggin along with my dad at the age of 4 years old...Bud and his crew know what they're doing. They know the area like the back of their hands, they know where the animals are and what their habits are, they know what rifle to use, and they know how to keep an eye on things like wind direction, weather and other hunters that may be around. Listen to these guys...do what you're told...and you'll have a successful hunt! You'll also love the rustic hunting camp in the Breaks area and the great conversations that take place around the wood stove with Bud's hounds pestering you for much petting! I don't just recommend Redbone Outfitting as a friend. I HIGHLY recommend them from the standpoint of one life-long hunter who knows that these guys know what they're doing!

My experience with Redbone Outfitting was definitely one I will always remember. The owner, Bud, did an outstanding job with everything considering the resources in the mountains. Not only did he help me bag my first bear ever, but also my first big game animal with my bow. The tents were well designed and the cook, Dan, was phenomenal. Overall, my experience was great and I will definitely be back in the next few years!
